Ismael Tamayo, 44, of Ontario, was detained by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department after deputies responded to a report of a shooting near the Stoddard Wells Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) area in unincorporated Apple Valley at 1:17 a.m. When deputies arrived, they found the victim, described as a 48-year-old male, with a gunshot wound to his upper body. He was airlifted to a nearby trauma center. The suspect—located close to the scene—was quickly identified as Tamayo, an off-duty officer who was assigned to the LAPD’s Newton Division....
NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea said in a press conference on Thursday that at around 3 a.m. local time Thursday, NYPD officers from the 114th precinct responded to a 911 call regarding an officer who was shot near 57th Street and Northern Boulevard in Queens. According to the FBI, Olsen was a contributor to the chatroom and website iFunny, where he posted as “ArmyOfChrist.” That account had 4,400 subscribers. Over 200 former students and university employees have been confidentially interviewed by independent investigators reviewing allegations against Richard Strauss involving male athletes from 14 sports as well as his work at the student health center and his off-campus medical office, University President Michael Drake said. Those allegations range from 1979 to 1997, during most of Strauss’ two decades on the faculty and medical staff. Many of the accusers who have spoken publicly allege Strauss groped them or conducted unnecessary genital exams....
