The seven-minute video posted on Wednesday on Facebook shows a white police officer lying on top of a crying Black woman as she appears to vomit and says, “I can’t breathe.” The officer, identified as Kaufman County Deputy Conner Martin, is lying on top of 18-year-old Nekia Trigg as women around them scream. Local residents had apparently contacted the Kaufman County sheriff’s department to report Trigg, of Forney, was jumping in front of cars, possibly in a suicidal manner....

The upcoming crime thriller L.A. Noire looks to continue that legacy, following the story of one Cole Phelps, a detective tracking down a dangerous serial killer in the world of Los Angeles in the late 1940s. The game looks to be a very intriguing murder mystery, along the lines of movies like Se7en and Zodiac, though with the distinctive Rockstar style. The recently released cover art for the game reflects this, looking like a poster for a movie rather than a game (hey, there’s an idea…)....

Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Boger’s crew is not expected to receive high grades after calling a game highlighted by a controversial touchdown late in the first half — one that proved the ultimate difference in a 26-19 victory over Las Vegas. Schefter reports the NFL normally chooses its Super Bowl officiating team from the divisional rounds, but that teams that earn a high enough grade during wild-card weekend can call the Super Bowl....

Franklin County Common Pleas Judge Richard Frye recently ruled that a decision from Republican Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose to only allow one ballot drop box per county had no legal basis. The Ohio Republican Party on Tuesday issued a statement in response accusing the judge of making the ruling due to his “partisan affiliation.” Ohio Supreme Court Chief Justice Maureen O’Connor, who is a Republican, condemned the statement “in the strongest possible terms” with her own scathing statement on Wednesday....

David Uible, 59, of Ohio Township, was charged on Tuesday with one count of falsification, a first degree misdemeanor, and obstructing official business, a second degree misdemeanor, linked to allegations filed earlier this month, according to the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office. Uible, a former Clermont County Commissioner, is accused of making “false statements to a detective in an attempt to mislead and obstruct” an investigation, police said. During separate legal issues, the Ohio politician pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count of tampering with records in 2018 and was sentenced to probation and fined $250 last December, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported....

The school announced Thursday that a two-year extension for Meyer was approved by a committee of the board, sending it to the full board to decide Friday. “I want to thank President Michael V. Drake for his guidance and the Board of Trustees for its work in considering this extension,” said Ohio State Vice President and Athletic Director Gene Smith. “I think everyone will agree that we have one of the finest coaches and mentors in Urban Meyer leading our football program....

Nevertheless, the Oklahoma City Thunder’s early exit from the playoffs last week demonstrated that Melo was not the reason for failure the year prior. NBA fans and analysts have spent the last 12 months blaming Melo for the Thunder’s shortcomings last season – when in fact, the Thunder looked like a better unit with the veteran star on the court. There will be a major inquest into what went wrong with the Thunder this season, although the team simply does not have the trade assets and salary cap room to attract a third All-Star to play alongside Russell Westbrook and Paul George....

Oklahoma State athletic director Mike Holder announced Friday the school and its basketball coach have “mutually agreed” to part ways after eight seasons. ESPN originally reported the story Saturday. Hill was allegedly arguing with his 20-year-old girlfriend before he “struck her in the face and stomach and choked her,” according to the police report. The victim told police she had been dating Hill since June and was eight weeks pregnant with his child. She noted her relationship with the athlete was physical before, but not to this extent. The victim was treated for injuries and released from the hospital....

I’m not sure what turned the run game around, but something happened after that loss to the Longhorns. In their last seven games of the year, Oklahoma averaged 300 yards rushing per contest. Samaje Perine, its leading ball carrier, averaged 132 during the late-season surge as opposed to 73 through the first five games. Quarterback Baker Mayfield receives many of the team’s accolades, and he played great all season, but it was the revival of the running game that turned the season around....

Cruz quote-tweeted a Washington Post reporter who had written about a remark that Biden had made at a press conference on Saturday. Biden responded to a reporter who asked if Cruz or Senator Josh Hawley should resign. The president-elect said they should be beaten next time they run. Both Cruz and Hawley have experienced backlash for their challenge to the certification of Electoral College votes for President-elect Joe Biden’s victory prior to the mob assault on the Capitol, which left five people dead....

For excited gamers who haven’t strapped on the headset yet, it has been a long wait full of second-hand hyperbole from media outlets raving about the technology. That patience is getting closer to being rewarded though as Oculus VR recently received a cash injection to help complete the consumer version of the Rift. Oculus VR has revealed that it raised over $75 million in order to get the product to consumers and received the massive investment from the Andreessen Horowitz firm, which was founded by Netscape creator Marc Andreessen....

Oculus has tried to dispel fears as best as possible. Palmer Luckey, co-founder of the company and creator of the Oculus Rift, has said that the deal will make sense in a year’s time and that gaming is still their primary focus. John Carmack, the former id Software guru who went to Oculus full-time in November as their Chief Technology Officer, has said that Facebook “get the Big Picture as I see it, and will be a powerful force towards making it happen....

In October, three Aurora, Colorado police officers–Erica Marrero, Kyle Dittrich and Jaron Jones–posed for a photo near a memorial for McClain. The officers reenacted the chokehold that was used on him. Jones resigned over the photo Tuesday, and on Friday, Interim Police Chief Vanessa Wilson announced that Marrero and Dittrich had been fired. A third officer, Jason Rosenblatt, was fired for commenting “ha ha” after he’d received digital copies of the photo....
